Don’t peek!

Of course, it’s tempting to peek inside the oven and breathe in that warm aroma, right? But wait, that can ruin everything! Opening the oven alters the temperature, leaving your cake unevenly baked. Instead, set an alarm, open a bottle of wine and watch your favorite TV show. Time will pass quickly without “doming” (and dooming) your cake.

Domed Cupcakes Vs. Flat Tops

Cupcakes with flat tops are great because it makes icing easier. If your cupcakes are turning out domed (and you’re not peeking in the oven), then your oven is either too hot or the heat is not being distributed properly.  Also, it could mean the reading on your oven isn’t correct. Using an oven thermometer is a good start to finding a solution. If you don’t have one at hand, take the baked cupcakes out of the oven and press a sheet of baking paper on top of your cupcakes to flatten them. Voila!

Burned Bottoms

We don’t want to brag, but our baking paper has outstanding non-stick, no cleanup properties. Plus, it’s great for preparing ahead of time. You can freeze unbaked treats on a tray lined with baking paper, and later take it out of the freezer, placing it straight into the oven. Using baking paper also helps avoid burning the bottoms of your cookies and other baked goods. Just be sure to cool your baking sheets between batches to evenly distribute the heat. Your treats will be golden brown every time.
